WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team came out on Wednesday night and while their performance was much improved over previous efforts, the Sailfish were unable to overcome a strong Barry University squad as the Fish fell 3-0 before a nice crowd at the Rubin Arena.

With improved defensive and offensive play, the Sailfish produced a solid effort in game one as they kept the game close until the Bucs pulled away late as Barry took the set 25-20. Things would once again be back and forth game number two before the Bucs edged the Fish 25-19.

After exhausting efforts in the first two games against the Buccaneers (5-4), the Fish appeared worn down and out of gas as the Bucs cruised to a 25-11 game three win and a 3-0 sweep to earn thief fifth win of the season.

Freshman Allie Warren put together perhaps the strongest effort on the front-line for PBA as she totaled eight kills and a hitting percentage of .238. Sophomore Kristin Carroll also put together a solid overall performance with seven kills.

Seniors Chrissy Gulden and Brittany Erickson added in seven and five kills respectively although Erickson, who is the team’s leading hitter on the year, was only able to produce 15 total attacks while Gulden managed only 17 total attacks.

Senior Emily Ryerson put together a solid night as she added in 24 assists and eight digs.

BU outside-hitter Camilla Pagnan earned game-high honors with 12 kills on the night while teammates Miesje-Sable Burton and Julia Ridley each registered nine kills with impressive .571 and .412 hitting percentages.

Libby Walter led the Bucs with 20 assists while Lauren Evans led the defensive effort with 17 digs.

The Sailfish (5-8) will look to rebound in their next outing as they travel across town to take part in the Northwood University Tournament. PBA opens up play on Friday, October 3rd at 3 pm with a showdown against Florida College.
