Box Score St. Augustine, Fla.- After a week-long layoff and beginning the first of two games scheduled for the weekend, the Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball team fell in to Flagler College on Friday night by a score of 3-1.
Now 12-15 on the season, PBA will try and get back on the winning track tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Winter Park, Florida to take on Rollins College in yet another battle with a tough opponent.
In a recent trend for the Sailfish, they once again jumped out to an early lead by winning the first game but were unable to sustain the momentum as the Saints stormed back to take the next three games and the match. PBA earned the win in game one by a score of 30-27 before dropping the next three by the scores of: 24-30, 28-30, and 22-30.
The Sailfish have now dropped four straight matches as they now prepare for yet another tough opponent coming up in Rollins College.
PBA was led by four players reaching double-digits in kills including a team-high 16 kills by junior Brittany Erickson (La Mesa, Calif.). Senior’s Ali Mitchell (West Palm Beach, Fla./Royal Palm HS) and Bia Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) followed for the Fish with 15 kills each while freshman Kristin Carroll (Billings, Mont.) registered 11 kills.
Junior setter Emily Ryerson (Winter Springs, Fla./Winter Springs HS) once again set up the front-line attackers for PBA by collecting 51 assists in the four games while also reaching double-digits in digs with 11. A balanced defensive effort, Erickson led all PBA players with 14 digs followed closely by Mitchell with 13 digs and sophomore Jennifer Eldridge (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer HS) with 12 digs.
Tomorrow’s matchup with the Tars is scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m. in Winter Park, Florida.
