WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic volleyball's Sofia Augusto was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following a standout opening weekend for the Sailfish.
 
Augusto anchored PBA's back row across four matches, recording a team-high 64 digs in 12 sets. The senior libero averaged 5.33 digs per set while posting a .967 reception percentage, committing just three errors on 90 reception attempts.
 
Augusto opened the season with 10 digs and a perfect 1.000 reception percentage in a 3-0 sweep of UNC Pembroke on Aug. 28. She followed with 20 digs against Middle Georgia before adding 21 digs in PBA's second win over the Knights on Aug. 29.
 
She closed the weekend with 13 digs against Nova Southeastern, finishing the four-match stretch with at least 13 digs in every contest.
 
Augusto's defensive efforts helped the Sailfish open the season 3-1, including three wins during the opening weekend. Her 64 digs led the team, while her 5.33 digs-per-set average ranked as a key part of PBA's early-season success.
 
The weekly honor marks the first career recognition for Augusto following her strong start to the 2026 season.
