DAVIE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team fell in a tense 13–12 loss to Nova Southeastern at the NSU Baseball Complex on Tuesday. The 'Fish recorded 14 hits and six doubles during the game.
PBA faced a tense extra-inning loss against Nova Southeastern. The deciding moment came in the bottom of the 11th when Dakota Jones delivered a single to left field, bringing Emilio Gonzalez home for the winning run after loading the bases with a walk and hit-by-pitch.
Earlier, the Sailfish mounted a significant rally in the eighth inning to tie the game at 10–10.
Brandon Castellon led off with a double, followed by
Santi Scheele's RBI double.
Finley Holmes later cleared the bases with a two-RBI double, capitalizing on
Trey Miranda and
Jake McNamara's aggressive baserunning. Holmes had also been instrumental in the fourth inning, contributing with a hit-by-pitch and scoring on a wild pitch as part of a five-run surge.
Despite the late push, crucial scoring opportunities slipped away in the 11th.
Aidan Pierre and Scheele reached base, but the crucial hit eluded them, leaving the bases loaded and allowing Nova Southeastern to snatch the walk-off victory in the bottom half.
Aidan McKee started strong with 1 inning, allowing no hits and striking out two batters while issuing three walks.
A.J. Prendergast followed with a similar performance, also striking out two in his 1 inning of work.
Gavin Ingram surrendered the first earned run of the game in his 1 inning, giving up two hits.
Jamie McMahon allowed two earned runs and a home run in just 1/3 of an inning.
Christian Alonso managed 1 2/3 innings with one hit and one strikeout.
Lucas Chantres allowed three earned runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Zachary Orloff and
Chip Hoornstra each contributed 1 1/3 innings, with Orloff giving up two runs and Hoornstra allowing two earned runs with one wild pitch.
Jack Mischke recorded three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings despite allowing two earned runs and three hit batters.
Andrew Fernandez took the loss, with one earned run in 1/3 of an inning, and
Elijah Budiac faced two batters without recording an out, allowing a hit and a hit batsman.
Jake McNamara led the team with three runs and three hits, adding one RBI and a stolen base. Holmes contributed significantly with three runs, four hits, and three RBIs, including a double and a triple, while also stealing two bases.
Carter Parent drove in three runs with two hits, including a double, and scored once. Miranda showcased his speed by stealing two bases and drawing two walks.
