Baseball Drops Midweek to Rollins

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- Palm Beach Atlantic fell to Rollins with a final score of 5–2 on Tuesday at J.M. 'Jake' Rubin Park.

Rollins capitalized on a pivotal fifth inning to seal its lead over the Sailfish. The inning saw three runs cross the plate, with a crucial wild pitch allowing Owen Rardin to score. A follow-up sacrifice fly, coupled with a throwing error, pushed two more runs across, creating a decisive gap.

PBA's offensive efforts began in the third inning, when Aidan Pierre's aggressive baserunning saw him single, steal second and third, and score on a Patrick Rakes RBI single. Despite the early momentum and a ninth-inning rally that included a Carter Parent single and a Brandon Castellon RBI double, the 'Fish could not close the gap.

The Sailfish defense held strong in the late innings, highlighted by a double play in the ninth, but the offensive chances slipped away, leaving a runner stranded at third to end the game.

The Sailfish pitching staff faced challenges and successes in their performance against Rollins. A.J. Prendergast allowed two earned runs on three hits over 1 inning, contributing to the team's struggle. In contrast, Lucas Chantres delivered a strong relief appearance with 1 2/3 innings pitched, allowing no hits and striking out three. Zachary Orloff and Gavin Ingram also provided effective relief, each pitching a scoreless inning without allowing a hit, while Ingram struck out one. Despite the varied performances, the pitching staff exhibited resilience, with several pitchers contributing scoreless innings.

The Sailfish return to the field on Friday when they take on Florida Southern at 6 p.m. at the Jake.
