MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team lost to Mississippi College by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday in Melbourne, Fla. The 'Fish fought hard, securing their lone point at the No. 1 singles position.
In doubles action, Mississippi swept the courts.
Alejandro Rol Franco and
Milan Visontai faced a tough challenge at No. 1 doubles, falling 6-0. The pair of
Saidakbar Kamalov and
Marko Visontai battled at No. 3 doubles but were edged out 6-4.
Noah Muyale and
Matthew Young put up a strong fight at No. 2 doubles, narrowly losing 7-5.
Singles play saw the Choctaws extending their lead.
Lucas Hoyos competed at No. 3 singles but was defeated 6-0, 6-1. Rol Franco played at No. 2 singles, facing a 6-2, 6-3 loss.
Matthew Young took to the court at No. 4 singles but couldn't overcome his opponent, losing 6-2, 6-3.
Kylian Coiteux competed at No. 5 singles, falling 6-2, 6-1, while Kamalov played at No. 6 singles, finishing with a 6-3, 6-0 defeat.
The highlight for the Sailfish was
Milan Visontai's performance at No. 1 singles, where he emerged victorious with a hard-fought 7-6(7), 6-2 win, earning the team's sole point.
The Sailfish have a quick turnaround and face off against the Lynn Fighting Knights at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.
