TAMPA, Fla. — The Palm Beach Atlantic University men's track team opened its 2026 outdoor season Saturday at the Tampa Spartans Open, posting competitive showings across multiple distance events.
In the men's 3000 meters, Charlie Roberts led the Sailfish with a third-place finish, crossing the line in 8:33.59 setting a new program record in the event. Teammate Aedan Lydon also turned in a strong effort, placing 11th in 8:50.42. Lydon posted the fifth-best time in program history.
Hans Payne finished 17th (9:00.58), Max Buonomo was 22nd (9:09.77), Chris Cotilla placed 28th (9:18.87), Jamin DeWitt was 29th (9:20.49), Michael Kirwan finished 30th (9:23.23) and Zach Avalos crossed in 37th (9:40.11). The duo of Payne and Buonomo each posted top-10 times in program history.
In the 1500 meters, Alain Flores paced the Sailfish with a 10th-place finish in 4:05.33, while Baden Tull placed 38th in 4:23.19. Flores' time is good for the 10th best finish in program history.
PBA races again at the NSU Alumni Invite on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
