WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team lost to St. Thomas 6-1 on Wednesday. The 'Fish secured their lone point with a victory in the No. 2 doubles position.
St. Thomas claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Mariano Hasenhkopf and Arthur Bugeaud defeated
Peter Dragar and
Milan Visontai 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Pierlu Cruypemmimck and Maxime Varotchi followed up with a 6-4 win over
Noah Muyale and
Alejandro Rol Franco at No. 3 doubles. The Sailfish's
Imani Beharry and
Lucas Hoyos captured a hard-fought 7-6(4) victory at No. 2 doubles over Ivan Menendez and Pablo Olmedo.
In singles action, Bugeaud secured the first point for St. Thomas with a 6-1, 6-1 win against
Kylian Coiteux at the No. 3 spot. Olmedo extended the lead by defeating Dragar 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Varotchi clinched the match for St. Thomas with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Beharry at No. 5 singles.
Cruypemmimck kept the momentum going for St. Thomas with a 6-2, 6-4 victory against Rol Franco at No. 6 singles. Hasenhkopf followed up with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Visontai at No. 1 singles. The 'Fish's Hoyos earned the team's sole singles point with a 7-6(5), 6-4 triumph over William Rosencrantz at No. 2 singles.
The Sailfish return to the court next Tuesday when they make the short trip down I-95 to Lynn.
