Breeje Schuler was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following a standout performance on the defensive end in two league contests last week. Today's honor marks Schuler's second SSC Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.

A native of New Zealand, Schuler averaged 3.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and 8.5 rebounds per game while playing more than 33 minutes per contest, anchoring the Sailfish defensively against Tampa and Rollins. Her ability to defend multiple positions, rebound at a high level and create turnovers proved pivotal throughout the week.

Schuler opened the week by playing all 40 minutes against Tampa, finishing with four steals while helping disrupt passing lanes and limit second-chance opportunities. Schuler was tasked with guarding Tampa's leading scorer in the post, holding her to below her season average. She followed with one of her most complete defensive efforts of the season against Rollins, recording 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, including nine defensive boards, to control the glass from the guard position.

For the week, Schuler totaled six steals and two blocks. On the offensive end of the floor, Schuler scored 15 points with five assists against Tampa before scoring 20 points with four 3-pointers against Rollins.

Schuler and the Sailfish play a pair of road games this week. The 'Fish travel to Eckerd on Wednesday to play Eckerd at 5:30 p.m. before traveling to Nova Southeastern on Saturday at 2 p.m.
