Baseball Drops Game 1 to Tars

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish baseball team dropped its first matchup of the weekend with the Rollins Tars on Friday afternoon by a score of 15-7.

Dane Hall got the start on the mound and only got through 3.0 innings of work. Hall gave up 7 runs, all earned, on six hits and four walks. Hall also had two strikeouts on 65 pitches. Daniel Foster came on in relief of Hall and also put in three innings of work. Foster gave up seven hits and seven runs, two of which were earned. He had two strikeouts and one walk on 52 pitches.

Gavin Ingram got the seventh inning all to himself. He allowed one hit and on earned run with two walks and one strikeout on 40 pitches in the inning. Zachary Orloff threw to the Tars in the bottom of the eighth. It was a quick inning for Orloff, surrendering no runs on one hit and only seven pitches.

The Sailfish started off hot with Matthew Faranda knocking a double down the right field line to score Jake McNamara. Later in the inning, Patrick Rakes added a RBI single to right field to give the Sailfish an early 2-0 lead. The Tars quickly tied things back up in the bottom of the second.

The Sailfish struck right back in the top of the third.

Chris Amparo singled to left center and put a RBI single into left center that scored Ben Green. Later in the inning, Isaiah Malek singled to left field to bring in Finley Holmes and gave the Sailfish a 5-2 lead. However, the Tars came back again in the bottom of the inning and put up a three spot of their own to tie things up.

In the bottom of the fourth, Rollins put another crooked number on the scoreboard with five runs to take charge of the game. The Sailfish loaded the bases and scored a run after Aaron Vetter grounded into a double play and added another run with Isaiah Malek singling through the right side of the infield. Rollins would add four more runs in the bottom of the inning and then another in the bottom of the seventh to complete the win.

The Sailfish and Tars will run it back tomorrow at 12 p.m. with a doubleheader in Winter Park.
