WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic University Athletic Department announced its yearly award winners on Wednesday evening to celebrate the best and brightest from PBA athletics. All awards were handed out to the student-athletes as the show served as a culmination to the past year of Sailfish athletics, highlighting both accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Below are the nominees and winners of each award.
Athlete of the Year: Awarded to the male and female student-athletes who are considered the top performers at the University.
Winners: Rachel Delate (Women's Lacrosse) and Matthew Faranda (Baseball)
Finalists: Kash Ayuso (Women's Basketball), Dominyka Petraskaite (Women's Cross Country/Track), Riley Hamilton (Women's Golf), Curtis Goddard (Men's Lacrosse), Joshua Ward (Men's Basketball), and Pierre Mercier (Men's Cross Country/Track).
Other Nominees: Serena Baumgart (Beach Volleyball), Joseph Basara (Cross Country/Track), Anna Dunbar (Beach Volleyball), Jake Strachan (Men's Soccer), and Harper Stokes (Volleyball).
Athletic Director's Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who has exemplified the Christian values on and off the field of competition along with upholding the academic and athletic standards of the Palm Beach Atlantic University Athletics Department.
Winners: Megan Jackson (Women's Lacrosse) and Hayden Tank (Men's Cross Country/Track)
Finalists: Cooper Laughlin (Men's Lacrosse), Agustin Iusem (Men's Soccer), Matthew Young (Men's Tennis), Katelyn Nadeau (Beach Volleyball), Leah Cook (Women's Soccer), and Lacy Marty (Softball)
Other Nominees: Will Lee (Men's Basketball), Justus Verge (Men's Golf), and Harper Stokes (Volleyball).
Clark Boetel Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who represents the University with outstanding attitude, leadership and servant-hood.
Winners: Frida Alsterhem (Women's Tennis) and Jackson Overholt (Men's Cross Country/Track).
Finalists: Zoe Wortinger (Women's Basketball), Bella Marchiano (Women's Lacrosse), Jamaal Walker (Basketball), Cassidy Norley (Women's Soccer), Chloe Nepveux (Softball), Daniel Foster (Baseball), Jamaal Walker (Basketball), Caleb Southard (Men's Lacrosse), and Philipp Worner (Men's Soccer).
Other Nominees: Angela Goggin (Beach Volleyball), Annika Miller (Women's Golf), Jayna Bredenberg (Volleyball), and Jordan Verge (Men's Golf).
Don Harp Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who is a rising senior who has excelled in competition and demonstrated outstanding Christian leadership.
Winners: Savannah DeCarlo (Beach Volleyball) and Dominic Barnshaw (Men's Lacrosse)
Finalists: Nina Gudgeon (Women's Golf), Olivia Larges (Women's Lacrosse), Larken Maseda (Softball), Jake McNamara (Baseball), and Broderick Ellis (Men's Basketball).
Other Nominees: Anna Foreman (Women's Soccer), Harper Stokes (Volleyball), and Justus Verge (Men's Golf).
Gary Carter Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete that has a love and respect for the game, plays with enthusiasm and heart and is a good role model on and off the field or court. Must have credible statistics.
Winners: Madison Kovar (Women's Soccer) and Jordan Verge (Men's Golf)
Finalists: Harper Stokes (Volleyball), Taryn Thompson (Women's Lacrosse), Anna Dunbar (Beach Volleyball), Luis Platas (Men's Golf), Brendan Pedisich (Men's Lacrosse), and Tyler Burton (Men's Basketball).
Other Nominees: Madison Schlichte (Softball), Riley Hamilton (Women's Golf), Zoe Wortinger (Women's Basketball), Gui Amor (Men's Soccer), Reece Slater (Men's Cross Country/Track), and Matthew Faranda (Baseball).
Newcomer of the Year: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete who performs at a high-level and makes a sizable impact for their team as a first-year player.
Winners: Dominyka Petraskaite (Women's Cross Country/Track), Jaycee Jenkins (Women's Golf), and Dane Hall (Baseball).
Finalists: Sydney Corbett (Volleyball/Beach Volleyball), Maddy Nelson (Women's Soccer), Milan Visontai (Men's Tennis), Patrick Law (Men's Lacrosse), and Nick Estrada (Men's Golf).
Other Nominees: Rylee Little (Softball), Jalona Mundo (Women's Lacrosse), Livio von Holzen (Men's Soccer), and Jose Roberto Tanchyn (Men's Basketball).
President's Award: Awarded to a male and female student-athlete with outstanding academic achievements while contributing to their team's athletic success.
Winners: Anabel Ellison (Women's Basketball) and Justus Verge (Men's Golf).
Finalists: Annika Miller (Women's Golf), Isabelle Tapia (Women's Lacrosse), Alessia Passerini (Women's Tennis), Jayna Bredenberg (Volleyball), Keegan Southard (Men's Lacrosse), Agustin Belgiorno (Men's Soccer), and Finley Holmes (Baseball).
Other Nominees: JJ Hayes (Men's Basketball), Lauren Pace (Beach Volleyball), and Maddy Nelson (Women's Soccer).
Strength and Conditioning Award: Given to a male and female student-athlete who increases or improves their physical fitness through a high commitment level and hard work.
Winners: JJ Hayes (Men's Basketball) and Camdyn Albrecht (Beach Volleyball).
Workship Award: Given to a male and female student-athlete who continually demonstrates leadership service through the Workship program.
Winners: Andrew Duda (Men's Cross Country/Track) and Madison Schlichte (Softball).
Fleming Impact Award: Presented to individuals who continue to make a tremendous impact for Sailfish student-athletes.
Winners: Rachel Sargen and Gianna Caliendo (PBA Spirit Squad).
