BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team dropped both games of their Saturday doubleheader with Lynn on Saturday and in turn lost the series.
The Sailfish look to bounce back when they return home to the 'Jake' on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. when they host the same Lynn Fighting Knights.
GAME ONE
Unearned runs were the story in game one for the Sailfish. Daniel Foster started the game for the 'Fish and got through 4.2 innings on 72 pitches. Foster allowed eight hits and five runs but only one of them was earned. Foster also recorded four strikeouts but had two walks and one hit batter. Derek Langfelder returned to the mound for the Sailfish in relief and threw 2.1 innings of three hit ball. However, Langfelder gave up four runs with none being earned. Jared Murray finished the game for PBA. He threw in the bottom of the eighth and gave up no hits and had two strikeouts on 21 pitches.
The Sailfish put themselves in a good position early in the game after Lynn took a 1-0 lead in the first. Patrick Rakes scored on a bad throw after he advanced to third on an Aaron Vetter fly out to tie things up in the second. In the third inning, Jake McNamara hit an RBI triple to score Aaron Izquierdo. After that, Finley Holmes scored McNamara with a ground out to second base to give the 'Fish a 3-1 lead. After that, Lynn tied it up in the bottom of the inning and things continued to unravel for the Sailfish who ended up falling 9-3.
GAME TWO
Nolan Smoot got the start in the final game of the series for PBA. Smoot got through 4.0 innings on 67 pitches. The transfer from Louisville gave up six earned runs on six hits and two hit by pitches. He also had three strikeouts. Nick Feretic threw only two innings for the Sailfish, his lowest of the season so far. Feretic gave up two hits and two earned runs on 37 pitches and two strikeouts. Steve Trone and Isaac Beebe each threw one inning to finish out the game with each surrendering one hit and no runs.
The Sailfish went down early in the game, falling behind 2-0 in the first inning. Patrick Rakes brought PBA back within one when he scored on a wild pitch in the top of the second. However, Lynn scored the next six runs of the game and the Sailfish couldn't climb out of the hole.
