WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team dropped its midweek game with the Florida Tech Panthers on Tuesday night. After going down three runs in the first inning, the Sailfish comeback fell just short.
In what was a bullpen game for the Sailfish, Dane Hall got the midweek start for PBA on the mound. Hall threw one full inning but allowed three earned runs on two hits, one walk, and two hit by pitches. The 6'6" right-hander also recorded two strikeouts as he faced eight Panther batters. Nick Feretic, Daniel Foster, Derek Langfelder and Steve Trone followed behind Hall for a combined five innings with no runs and three hits. Chip Hoornstra made his second appearance of the season and got through 0.1 innings while allowing one run on one hit and two walks. Isaac Beebe closed out the game for PBA. Beebe threw 1.2 innings and allowed no runs on no hits while recording three strikeouts.
After going down three runs in the bottom of the first, Ben Green smoked a triple down the left field line to score Trey Miranda. Later in the game, Miranda doubled to left center to bring in Kody Kelly and the Sailfish were within one. However, Florida Tech scratched across an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh to take a two-run lead. The defecit was too much for the 'Fish and Florida Tech took the win 4-2.
The Sailfish baseball team returns to action on Friday night at 6 p.m. when they return home to the "Jake" to host the Embry-Riddle Eagles.
