LAKE WORTH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's track team did not have to travel far for its meet on Friday. The Sailfish competed at the Keiser Invitational at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School.
Amberleigh Sorensen highlighted the day with a victory in the 800m. She ran a 2:16.91, finishing four seconds ahead of second place and earning the third-fastest time in school history.
Natalee Kryman earned seventh with a time of 2:29.17 good for a new personal record.
Nella Petersen placed eighth with a time of 2:30.00, half a second behind her personal record.
The Sailfish started the day with the 1500m race.
Darah Oniwa was the best finisher for the 'Fish. She finished sixth in the race, running a time of 5:34.82.
Julia Kooyer was right behind in seventh. She ran a 5:36.97.
Hannah Atwell led the way for the Sailfish in the 400m race. She finished eighth with a time of 1:02.87. Atwell barely beat out Dominyka Petraskiate in ninth, running a 1:02.90.
Ava Spampanato finished 14th in the event at 1:12.54.
PBA finished the night with the mixed 4x400m race. Ethan Wattles and Connor Wallace teamed with Sorensen and Atwell to finish third in the race, running a time of 3:56.50.
PBA track will compete in the first-ever Sunshine State Conference Championship meet on April 19 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
