Traveler's Rest, SC.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team earned it's first victory of the spring season on Tuesday afternoon with a total team score of +25 over the 36-hole tournament. Justus Verge cleared the rest of the field by eight total shots and won the individual side of the tournament with a score of –5.
The story of the tournament was Justus Verge. Verge, a junior from Bozeman, Montana, carded 12 birdies and an eagle over the 36 holes to get to –5 and beat the rest of the field by eight shots for the pull away victory.
The next closest Sailfish was Nicholas Estrada. Estrada finished in a two-way tie for third at six-over par. Estrada shot two consistent rounds of 75 with an eagle and one birdie in round one and three birdies in round two. Jordan Verge followed behind him finishing in a four-way tie for eleventh place at +12 for the tournament. Verge followed up a +7, 79 on Monday with a +5, 77 in the closing round on Tuesday.
Trey Tesiero followed closely behind in solo 15th place with a final score of +13. Tesiero started off strong with a +4, 76 on Monday but faded a little bit on Tuesday with a +9, 81. Raines Holmes rounded out the PBA squad with an uncharacteristic score of +18 for a three-way tie at 30th place. Holmes shot a +6, 78 in round one and a +12, 84 on Tuesday.
The Sailfish men's program returns to the course on March 31st when they head down I-95 to Miami Shores for the Barry Bucs Invitational.
