MIRAMAR, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's track team competed at the NSU Shark Invite on Friday evening.
The day started with several personal records in the 1500m race.
Amberleigh Sorensen led the Sailfish with a third-place finish. She finished with a time of 4:46.90, a personal best and fifth-fastest time in school history.
Abbie White was right behind, finishing fourth with a time of 4:52.81, good for the eighth-best time in program history.
Sadie Nordmeyer earned fifth, running a 4:56.96 and setting a new personal record.
Nella Petersen (5:00.83) placed seventh, followed by
Isabella Del Busto (5:05.87) in 10th,
Kamea Baker (5:07.43) in 11th,
Hannah Parker (5:09.70) in 13th and
Natalee Kryman (5:09.98) in 14th.
Alyssa Benson (5:22.24) placed 20th,
Hannah Atwell (5:25.41) earned 21st,
Darah Oniwa (5:27.53) in 22nd, and
Julia Kooyer (5:47.63) in 27th rounded out PBA's lineup. Del Busto, Baker, and Oniwa all set personal records in the race.
Several PBA runners doubled up, also competing in the 800m. Sorensen led the way again in fifth, running 2:21.09. Her effort marked the fourth-best time in the event in program history. Kryman came in 14th with a mark of 2:30.12. Atwell (2:30.34) placed 16th, followed by Petersen (2:30.85) in 17th. Benson came in 21st, posting a time of 2:34.35.
Ava Spampanato (2:43.00) also represented the 'Fish in the race in 25th place, setting a new personal record.
Sailfish track is back in action on March 7 when they return to Tampa for the Spartan's Open.
