DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team competed on Saturday against Embry-Riddle.
PBA looked to pick up its first conference win of the season against the Eagles. PBA had a tall task ahead of them, taking on the No. 11-ranked team in the country,
The day started with doubles play.
Noah Muyale and
Alejandro Rol Franco dropped their match at the No. 3 position, 6-0.
Luis Eduardo Platas and
Juanfer Contreras came up short at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, clinching the doubles point for ERAU.
Marko Visontai and
Milan Visontai competed at No. 2 doubles, but dropped the match, 6-2.
Singles play was highlighted by Mlian Visontai picking up his first collegiate win as a Sailfish. He took do Joshua Nuyts at No. 2 singles, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 1-0 (3). Unfortunately for the Sailfish, that was their only win of the afternoon. Platas played well at No. 1 singles, but came up just short in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (4), 4-6, 0-1 (8).
Peter Dragar dropped his match at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Contreras fell at the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-2.
Imani Beharry dropped his match at No. 6, 6-2, 6-4, clinching the match for the Eagles.
Marko Visontai was defeated by Michele Iftimie, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.
PBA competes again next Saturday against Augusta at 10:00 a.m.
