MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team finally got its first win of the season, coming on the road against the Saint Thomas University Bobcats in Miami Gardens. The Sailfish took the match by a score of 4-3.
The day started off with a crucial point from the doubles matches for the Sailfish. Luis Eduardo Platas and Juanfer Contreras took their match 6-4 in the first match but the it was the second match to finish in the session to clinch the doubles point. Noah Muyale and Imani Beharry took the match in the third position 6-3. The Visontai brothers fell in the second position by a score of 3-6 but the Sailfish had already clinched the doubles point.
Luis Platas took the first position match by a score of 6-4, 6-0. Milan Visontai bounced back after the doubles loss to take his second position 6-1, 6-1. Playing in the third position, Juanfer Contreras fought hard but fell 4-6, 4-6. Marko Visontai played a nail-biting match in the fourth position that ended up being the last match to finish. Marko lost the first set 4-6 but rallied to a 7-5 second set.
The clinching point of the match was won in the fifth position by Imani Beharry. Beharry defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the match for the 'Fish. Noah Muyale dropped the final match of the day 3-6, 1-6, but it was too little, too late for the Bobcats as the Sailfish came home with the win.
The Sailfish men's team returns to the court on when Warner comes into town on March 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center.
