Women’s Golf Rolls to Second Place Finish

2/12/2025 1:33:00 AM

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf team finished in second place with a team score of +30 in a tough field at the The GC at South Hampton. The tournament hosted by the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters featured a field of very tough programs.

Riley Hamilton led the way for the Sailfish finishing in a tie for second at one-over par (217). Hamilton, who bounced back in rounds two and three after a four-over round one, gave herself a chance to tie the lead heading into the 18th after a clutch birdie on the 53rd hole. However, Hamilton ended up with a par on the final hole and with an excellent T-2 finish.

Jaycee Jenkins followed closely behind Hamilton with a finish in solo seventh place at five over par (221). The freshman, who at one point held the solo lead in the final round, will look to learn from this experience and build on it through the rest of the season.

Nina Gudgeon fought back after a first round 82 to finish at fourteen-over par for the tournament. Gudgeon clawed up fourteen spots over the final two rounds to finish in a tie for two-way tie for 25th place.

Celia Schrecker and Annika Miller rounded out the five for the Sailfish with T-31st and a T-39th place finishes respectively. Schrecker played the three rounds with scores of 73, 79, 81 (233) to finish at +17. Miller finished at +19 (235). Mariane Johnson played as an independent in the tournament and finished with a score of +28, good enough for T-63.

Wingate took the team win with a team score of +28. Jess Brown pf Wingate scored the individual victory with a three-round score of even par.

The Sailfish return to the links early next week to take on the World Golf Invitational in St. Augustine, Florida hosted by Flagler College.
