Women's Golf Takes Team and Individual Titles in Season Opening Tournament

SANFORD, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf team teed it up for the first time this season at the Seminole State Invitational this weekend in a field of six squads. In a two-day, 36 hole event, Team A from the Sailfish finished in first place to earn the second team win in program history led by Riley Hamilton who captured the individual title.

The 'Fish got off to a hot start in round one, firing a team score of 294, the lowest single-round score in program history. Hamilton led the way with scores of (-2) 70 followed by a 74 to wrap up first place by a five-stroke margin. Celia Schrecker finished tied for second place in the tournament after a strong opening even par 72, she followed it up with a 77 today. The remaining PBA players rounded out the top-10 of the overall leaderboard as Nina Gudgeon finished T8 with rounds of 76-81 while Annika Miller and Marie-Luise Schrader finished T10. Miller was consistent with two rounds of 79 while Schrader shot 76-82.

The Sailfish traveled a second squad and two individuals in their season-opening event. Team B finished in fourth place, behind Seminole State and Eastern Florida led by Mariane Johnson who fired rounds of 79-80. Cara Hilburn, Jaycee Jenkins, and Emme Lantis all finished tied with a total score of 160, with Lantis having the lowest round of the trio with a 78 today, while Renata Petersen finished with rounds of 83-84. Sarah Harpster and Addison Miskell competed as individuals for the event and shot rounds of 89-90 and 90-93 respectively. 

PBA will look to carry the momentum and good play from the tournament victory into their next event which begins on Sep. 16. The Sailfish will remain close to home as they play at PGA National in West Palm Beach in a tournament hosted by Keiser.
