MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team had an individual receive individual accolades as Raines Holmes was named Sunshine State Conference Golfer of the Week today. Holmes becomes the fifth Sailfish men's golfer to earn the conference weekly honor in program history.

The Sailfish competed last week against a loaded field at the DII National Preview. Six of the top ten teams in the nation competed in the event as Holmes helped guide the 'Fish to a third-place team finish in the 14-team field. The junior from Vero Beach caught fire in round one early as he recorded seven birdies en route to a six-under 65. Holmes was tied for the lead with teammate Jordan Verge after the first round as PBA sat atop the leaderboard as a team.

After two early double bogies, Holmes was able to right the ship and get back to level par for his second round which was good enough to put him in second place after 36 holes of play. The following days round three which was scheduled for 18 more holes was canceled due to rain. Holmes has a scoring average of 70 so far through five rounds of play on the season which has him on pace for the best mark in program history.

The Sailfish jumped into the top 25 for the first time in program history prior to the strong third-place finish and should expect to move up in the week poll. After being off this week, PBA is back in play next week at the NSU Shark Invitational.
