He led the department in the fall of 2023 as Interim Athletic Director when PBA's Courtney Lovely Evans was on maternity leave.
"TJ has been a valued member of my leadership teams for several years," Lovely Evans said. "I am grateful I have someone with his experiences who I can rely on as my senior associate AD. I am confident he will continue to serve our department well in this elevated role."
Budd is entering his 10th year at PBA, and 17
th overall in college athletics. He was hired as the sports information director in 2014 before joining PBA's senior leadership team in 2018 when he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. Budd led the athletic communications department while serving as sport administrator for three more years before transitioning out of communications.
Since serving on the senior leadership team, Budd has worked as sport administrator at various points for 16 of PBA's 18 varsity sports. He has increased the athletic department's revenue generation through spearheading external rentals, PBA athletics' peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, and by assisting with relaunching PBA's corporate partnership program. Budd was heavily involved with bringing in groups such as the New England Patriots, Nashville SC, and the Coast-to-Coast NCAA DI Women's Basketball multi-team event.
Budd was selected by the NCAA Leadership Development Office and Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity as one of 22 senior-level administrators to participate in the NCAA Pathway Program in 2021. The goal of the program is to prepare these individuals to attain positions as directors of athletics or conference commissioners. Budd was one of just five administrators chosen from NCAA Division II.
Adding to his list of leadership achievements, Budd was voted as the chair for the NCAA Division II men's and women's tennis national committee from 2021-2023, after serving as a member of the national committee since 2019. As chair, Budd helped organize the first ever joint tennis championships for all three NCAA divisions. He also served on the Regional Advisory Committee for tennis since 2017.
