Men's Golf Finishes Top Five For Second Straight Tournament

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team finished fifth of 16 teams at the Battle of the Shores Invitational hosted by Barry University. The Sailfish finished in the top five in their final two tournaments of the regular season.

Nova Southeastern University took home the first-place trophy for the tournament and totaled a score of 835 for the three rounds of play. Saint Leo University took second and was five points short of Nova Southeastern's score of 840. The host, Barry University, and the University of Tampa both tied for third, scoring an 843 each in the tournament. The 'Fish rounded out the top five with a fifth-place finish and a score of 848. 

The Sailfish had some notable finishers, the first being Jordan Verge, who tied for 15th place. Jordan shot a 211 in the three rounds and had a cumulative average of 70.3 for the tournament. His best rounds were the second and third, where he scored a 70 in both. Justus Verge and Raines Holmes also landed in the top 20, both tying for 18th and shooting a 212 total. Justus had a great first round, shooting a 69, and Holmes had his best round in the second, with a 70.

Trey Tesiero finished tied at 36th and shot a 216 in the 54 holes. Tesiero shot a team-best for a round with a 68 in the first, which was three strokes shy of his season-best of 65. Cade Coffey also traveled with the squad for the first time since the Matlock Classic in early February. He scored 218 in the three rounds and tied for 48th. PBA also had two individual performers, those being Niko Karoutsos and Alex Ogle. Karoutsos tied at 71st, and Ogle tied at 85th.

PBA has now wrapped up their regular season schedule and will begin the Sunshine State Conference tournament on April 21–23. It will be their final competition of the 2023–24 season.
