BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse team fell to Lynn University by a score of 12-10 on Wednesday night. The Sailfish (5-4) came back from being down four and took a two-goal lead in the fourth, but couldn't hold on down the stretch.

In the first quarter, the Knights got up early after scoring three goals within the first eight and a half minutes of the game. PBA finally got going a little under the five-minute mark after Henry Sloyan found Cooper Porter for the goal to cut the game to 3-1 in Lynn's favor. With only a minute remaining in the period, Sarver Adams caused a Knights turnover, and that led to a goal by Giovanni Lubrano after Porter missed a shot wide seconds earlier. The Knights unfortunately capitalized with only six seconds left on the board to conclude the quarter and hold a 4-2 lead going into the second. 

Lynn started the second quarter similar to the first, scoring two quick goals to push their lead to 6-2 and didn't allow a Sailfish goal until the six and a half minute mark. Bryce Downs was the scorer of the third goal and picked up the ground ball that started the play. The starting goalie, Brendan Pedisich, did a great job protecting the net for the rest of the quarter, but the 'Fish couldn't buy a score either, leaving the score 6-3 in Lynn's favor going into the half.

It took a while for both teams to make any noise in the beginning of the third quarter, with neither team scoring for 10 minutes. Thankfully, the 'Fish were the first to strike in the second half, after Keegan Southard found Brad Wharton to make the lead 6-4. The Knights responded less than 30 seconds later, pushing their lead back to three. Another 30 seconds passed, then Austin Airey scored a goal to cut it back to two thanks to the assist from Hunter Sheffield. That play got the PBA rolling as they scored three more goals to take their first lead of the night at 8-7. Sloyan scored the first of three goals, then Downs on a man-up opportunity, which led to Southard finding Sloyan for another goal at the minute and a half mark. The 'Fish held out the Knights for the rest of the quarter, still holding the one-point lead.

PBA pushed their lead to two early in the fourth quarter after a ground ball pickup by Ty Wright, which led to Hunter Hopman's first score of the evening. Lynn responded about a minute later to cut the lead back to one in favor of the 'Fish. Hopman wasn't done, though, as he scored his second goal to put the 'Fish back up two with seven minutes remaining in the game. Some costly turnovers ultimately led to the PBA's demise as Lynn closed the game on a 4-0 run to steal the victory from the 'Fish, winning by a score of 12-10. 

Some notable performers for the Sailfish were Hopman, Sloyan, and Downs, who all scored a game-high two goals. Southard led the team in assists with two, and Sheffield and Sloyan had one apiece. Pedisich played the entire game at goalie and had 12 saves on 12 goal attempts.

The 'Fish have another road game on Saturday, April 13 at 5 p.m., where they will play Rollins College and have two games remaining in the 2024 season.
