Lantis Shoots First Hole in One in School History at the Keiser Kup

3/5/2024 6:16:00 PM

LAKE WORTH, FLA.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf team finished fifth of seven teams at the Kesier Kup. The Sailfish had two top-20 finishers, and everyone who traveled finished in the top 30 individually.

Keiser University took first place and, as a team, shot an 883 in three rounds and were +19 to par. William Carey University took second, shot 894 as a team, and were +30 to par. Texas Wesleyan University came up just three shots short of second, shooting an 897. To round out the top five, Southeastern University (Fla.) took fourth, and your Sailfish finished fifth. PBA shot a 930 in the tournament and were +66 to par.

Mariane Johnson was the best individual performer for the 'Fish, as she finished tied at 13th place, shooting a 229 for the tournament. This was Johnson's second event she has competed in this season and is now her best finish of the year. Nina Gudgeon was also a member of the top 20 individual finishers. She tied for 17th, and this was her best finish since tying for 19th at the Seminole State Invitational back in September, which was the first competition of the year for the women's golf team. Another couple notable performers were Celia Schrecker, who tied for 21st and shot a 235, and Marie Schrader, who finished 25th and shot a 240.

Emme Lantis also competed in the tournament and finished tied at 28th, shooting a 243 in the three rounds. One of those shots happened to be historic, as she became the only Sailfish in men's or women's golf to get a hole in one in PBA history. The shot happened late in the first round, which was actually being continued on Monday morning due to a rain and lightning stoppage on Sunday.

The women's golf team will compete again next week in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational hosted by Rollins College. The tournament will take place at the Orange Tree Golf Club.
