WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team faced off against Catawba in a regional match on Saturday.
The Sailfish earned a win in dramatic fashion. The match came down to
Roberto Binaghi at No. 1 singles. The set came down to a tiebreaker in the third set. Binaghi came from behind to earn a win 6-7 (5), 6-4, 11-9. The victory clinched the match, 4-3 for PBA.
All of PBA's wins came in singles competition.
Juanfer Contreras earned a clutch win at No. 3 singles, 3-6, 6-3, 10-3.
Peter Drager picked up a win at No. 4 singles, 7-5, 3-6, 10-2.
Marko Visontai defeated Taketoshi Nanao at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 6-0.
Luis Eduardo Platas competed at No. 2 singles but came up short in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.
Juan Fernandez dropped his match at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
PBA started the day in doubles play.
Matthew Young and
Axel Reich picked up a win at No. 3, 4-6. However, Catawba earned the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 2. Binaghi and Platas fell 3-6 at No. 1. Contreras and
Noah Muyale dropped No. 2, 4-6.
