Sailfish Women's Golf Finishes 8th In Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational

WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf team competed in the Peggy Kirk Bell Invitational hosted by Rollins College earlier this week. There were seven Sunshine State Conference teams who participated in the tournament, and the Sailfish placed eighth out of 10 teams.

The Nova Southeastern University Sharks took first place in the tournament, shooting 925 as a team for the three rounds and being +61 to par. Barry University was four strokes short of first, being +65 to par, and shot a 929 for the tournament. Third place went to the host, Rollins College, who shot a 946 while being +82 to par. To round out the top five, Lee University took fourth, and Montevallo College took fifth.

Nina Gudgeon was the top performer for the 'Fish once again, finishing in 14th place. Gudgeon was +21 to par and shot a 237 in the two days of play. Her best individual round was in the second, where she shot a 75 and was tied for 10th place at the end of day one. Annika Miller and Emme Lantis were two other notable performers for the 'Fish, as they both tied in 30th, finishing with a 246 as their score through the three rounds. Miller shot a consistent 82 in every round, and Lantis had her best performance for the tournament in the second, shooting a 79.

Mariane Johnson took 46th place and was +40 to par while shooting 256 strokes in 54 holes. Celia Schrecker almost found herself in the top 50 after finishing tied at 51st while shooting a 262. Marie-Luise Schrader also traveled with the team and finished in 55th place, shooting a 265. 

The Sailfish will compete again next week at the Barry University Buccaneer Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, March 18–19. It will be their last competition before the SSC tournament, which will take place in mid-April.
