MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team had a player receive individual accolades today as the Sunshine State Conference office released their weekly awards this afternoon. PBA's
Justus Verge earned SSC Golfer of the Week after his second-place finish at the Keiser Cup last week.
Verge helped lead the Sailfish to a third-place team finish at the Keiser Cup, hosted at Okeeheelee Golf Course. The Montana native earned his best career finish of solo second place after firing rounds of 67, 71, 70. Verge had a clean scorecard in his opening round as he recorded four birdies. He followed that round up with an even-par 71 with two birdies and two bogies before finishing with a two birdie and one bogey 70. The sophomore finished one shot behind the tournament winner from Keiser.
As a team, the Sailfish finished 17 shots out of first place, 14 out of second place, and 18 shots ahead of the fourth-place team. PBA's
Trey Tesiero finished in the top-10 for the 'Fish, finishing the tournament at one-under.
Raines Holmes was the third-best finisher for PBA as he shot rounds of 71, 73, 75 on his way to a T-17 finish.
The Sailfish are off until the beginning of April when they head to Miami Shores. It is the final tune-up for the 'Fish before they compete in the SSC Tournament later in the month.
