LAKELAND, FLA.- The Palm Beach Atlantic women's golf team competed at the Lady Moc Classic hosted by Florida Southern College on Monday and Tuesday. The Sailfish finished 14th out of 16 teams in the three rounds of play. 

The Sharks from Nova Southeastern University took home the first-place trophy, shooting an 882 as a team and having two players in the top 10 for individual finishes. Anderson University (SC) shot an 886 and took second for the tournament, also having two top-10 individual finishers. Flagler College was one point shy of tying for second, shooting an 887 in the three rounds, but managed to secure the third-place title. To round out the top five, Rollins College came in fourth, and Florida Southern College came in fifth. The tournament consisted of nine Sunshine State Conference teams.

The 'Fish traveled with six players for the tournament and had some notable finishers. Nina Gudgeon and Emme Lantis both tied for 70th place and shot 238 each in the two days of play. Gudgeon managed to score her season best for a round with a score of 73 in the second. Lantis also scored a season best of 73, but in round three. Renata Petersen competed individually for the tournament and tied at 76th, making her the third-best finisher for the Sailfish, though her scores did not count towards the team score. Her round-three performance was her best of the season, shooting a 74. 

The Sailfish also had three different players finish in the 80s. Mariane Johnson placed 82nd, Annika Miller tied for 83rd, and Celia Schrecker placed 87th. Johnson shot a 242, Miller a 243, and Schrecker a 245. Schrecker was only one shot shy of tying her season best for a round in the first with a 73.

The women's golf team will take a week off and then head down to Boca Raton, Fla., to compete in the Lynn University Fighting Knights Invitational. The tournament will be held at the Boca Woods Country Club-Lakes Course on Feb. 26-27.
