ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's golf team finished 13th out of 20 teams at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate hosted by Lincoln Memorial University. The tournament was held at St. John's golf course and was a two day event that consisted of three rounds of play.
The University of North Georgia took first place in the tournament with a score of 875 and were +11 to par. Lander University came up just two points short of tying for first with a score of 877 and +13 to par. The third and fourth place teams were the host, Lincoln Memorial University, and Georgia Southwestern State University. Lincoln scored 878 in the two days and Georgia Southwestern scored 881. Wingate University took fifth place with a score of 889.
The Sailfish had some notable performers including the Vero Beach, Fla. native,
Raines Holmes. Holmes finished tied at 10th place for individuals which is his best performance in both the spring and fall season. He had a total score of 219 in the three rounds with an average of 73 per round while being +3 to par. His best performances in the fall were the Division II national preview where he placed 17th and the St. Leo Griffin Invite where he placed 18th. This is now the third time since fall that Holmes has landed in the top 20 finishers.
Trey Tesiero finished tied at 53rd for individuals and shot a 230 in the two days.
Alexander Ogle and
Justus Verge finished tied for 63rd and 68th. Ogle shot a 232 and Verge, a 233.
Christopher Lee made his first appearance since the NSU invite in the fall and finished 82nd.
The 'Fish will head to Saint Leo University to compete in a invitational tournament being held by the school. The tournament will be held at the Lake Jovita golf course and tee off will begin at 8:30 a.m.
