LEXINGTON, Ky. – Palm Beach Atlantic associate head volleyball coach Luiza Andrade has been recognized as a member of the 2024 American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Thirty under 30.
"I am so grateful to have been selected for the 2024 Thirty Under 30 AVCA College Award,” Andrade said. “This award reflects all the amazing mentors, peers, and athletes I've crossed paths with and who have provided me with different opportunities to grow and learn. This would not be possible without their trust and support. It is a true honor to be recognized by the AVCA and I’m blessed to receive this award representing Palm Beach Atlantic University."
Andrade joined the Sailfish volleyball staff in the summer of 2024, reuniting with Jeff Huebner who was named head coach of the program in April. Andrade assisted Huebner for three seasons at Texas Woman’s University.
“In 6 years, Coach Andrade has made a tremendous impact in our sport,” Huebner said. “An incredibly active member of the volleyball community, her contributions go far beyond the court. Her passion for investing in her Student Athletes as people and her attention to detail highlight her daily commitment to excellence. I am so proud of her and grateful to work with one of the best in our profession.”
Andrade helped take TWU to unprecedented heights over the last three seasons. The tandem of Huebner and Andrade guided the Pioneers to one of their best seasons in program history in 2023, finishing 19-9 overall with an 11-5 mark in the Lone Star Conference. The squad was ranked in all NCAA South Central region rankings for the first time.
During Andrade’s time at TWU, the program had four student-athletes earn all-conference honors, including one AVCA all-American. She expanded the program’s recruiting footprint, bringing in eight out-of-state and four international recruits.
Before joining Huebner at Texas Woman’s, Andrade was a graduate assistant coach for the inaugural beach volleyball team at NCAA DI Stephen F. Austin. She helped build the roster, leading it to a .583 winning percentage in its first season.
Before beginning her coaching career, Andrade competed on the indoor and beach volleyball teams for San Jose State. She was an all-Mountain West libero in 2018 and finished her career with the second-most digs in SJSU history. She represented SJSU on the Mountain West all-star team that took third place in the 2016 European Global Challenge.
