Sailfish Mop the Floor with Bucs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team faced off against Barry at home on Wednesday evening.

The Sailfish (13-7, 7-5 SSC) looked to rebound off a four-overtime loss against a ranked Florida Southern team on Saturday. The 'Fish went against a Barry (12-8, 5-7 SSC) team that had won three out of its last four games. PBA turned in a strong performance on the defensive end, holding the Bucs to 55 points and a 31 percent field goal percentage in the game. The Sailfish earned a dominant 83-55 win against Barry.

Grant Ledford led PBA with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Jamaal Walker was right behind with 19 points and three rebounds. Broderick Ellis tallied 14 points off the bench with six rebounds. Will Lee scored 10 points with three rebounds and a steal. Marcus Montalvo recorded eight points with two rebounds, a block, and a steal.

The Sailfish put the clamps on the Bucs in the first half. The visitors shot 27 percent in the period, finishing the half with just eight field goals. Barry scored seven of its 27 points off offensive rebounds. Ledford and Lee helped the Sailfish build a nine-point halftime lead. Ledford scored 11 points with five rebounds in the period, with Lee scoring eight points, including two 3-pointers.

PBA showcased some efficient offense in the second half, converting on 61 percent of its attempts. Walker took over in the second half with 16 points, including an old-fashioned 3-point play with nine minutes left in the game that helped give the 'Fish a 17-point lead. The Sailfish kept their foot on the gas, ending the game on an 8-0 run to cruise to an 83-55 win.

The Sailfish outshot BU 56 percent to 31 percent in the game. PBA won the rebounding battle 45-36. The hosts scored 15 points off turnovers and 48 points in the paint. The 'Fish led for 34 out of 40 minutes of action.
