DAVIE, Fla. -- Earlier today, Sophomore
Andrew Riley completed the final round of the NCAA South Regional Tournament. Riley put on the best performance of his early career as a Sailfish, winning the tournament and punching his ticket to NCAA Nationals.
Riley got off to a terrific start in round one. He hovered round the top ten through the first few holes. He turned things on for the back nine, tallying four birdies and an eagle on his 12th hole to push him into first place. Riley's score of 62 is the lowest round of 18 by a Sailfish in school history. He would follow up his impressive first round with a solid outing in round two with a score of 70.
The final round was very tightly contested, with two other golfers closing in on the top spot. However, Riley's score of 72 would be just enough to hold on to the overall win. West Florida would take the team win with three of their golfers finishing in the top 30.
Riley will represent the Sailfish on May 22 for the NCAA DII National Tournament.
