Bucs Steal Doubleheader Games from Sailfish

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Palm Beach Atlantic baseball ended their Sunshine State Conference series in a doubleheader affair against Barry University earlier today. The Bucs took both games from the Sailfish 5-4 in the first, and 8-0 in the second.

Dan Beebe got the start for the 'Fish in this game and was stellar through five innings. The right hander sat down four Bucs hitters and only gave up one run in his appearance. His performance in this game was much needed, as Barry's starter made things difficult for the PBA batters as well.

The 'Fish were the first team to get a run across in this game. Sean Williams singled out to left field to bring in a run with two outs in the second inning. They would tack on another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly ball from Matty Warren. Things took a turn in favor of the Bucs in the sixth inning, as they rattled off five straight runs on six hits. The surge by Barry put the pressure on PBA to put some runs on the board late.

The Sailfish would make things interesting in the eighth inning. A throwing error by the Barry outfield helped a PBA run to cross and a passed ball by the pitcher brought in another Sailfish run to cut the lead to just one. However, that was all the Sailfish could manage as their comeback effort fell short in the bottom of the ninth.

The second game was one that PBA would like to forget. The offense stalled for the Sailfish largely in part by a solid outing from the Barry bullpen. The Bucs completely shut out the 'Fish, only allowing four hits and stranding five runners on base.

PBA will look to get back on track in a neutral site game against Palm Beach County rival Lynn University on Apr. 11.
