Sailfish Steal Road Win Over #10 Rollins

ORLANDO, Fla -- It was a great start to the weekend for the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team as they were able to steal a game from nationally ranked Rollins College earlier this evening.

Coming into this three-game conference series, the Tars were ranked #10 by NCBWA and #4 by College Baseball Newspaper. The 'Fish took the fight to the Tars early in this game. Ben Green worked out a walk and Matthew Faranda was able to get on base with a to right field. Green would find his way home on an infield single from Nate Housen, his 24th RBI of the season. Later in the third inning, Ben Green hustled out a triple and was able to reach home again after a balk from the Tars pitcher.

Dan Beebe was stellar in his start against Rollins this evening. He shut out the surging Tars offense, only allowing three total hits in a seven inning outing. Beebe also managed to fan seven batters to add to his team leading 57 strikeouts on the season.

PBA held a 2-0 leading heading into the final inning, and were able to tack on some extra runs. Giovany Lorenzo reached base with a lead-off double. Elias Machado and Jeremy Texel placed back to back bunts that lead to another run for the Sailfish. Ben Green and Nate Housen would add to their impressive days with two more RBIs to extend their score to 5-0.

The Tars would not go down without a fight at home, as they would work out a walk and a double to start the bottom of the ninth. A passed ball by the Sailfish would give the Tars their first run of the game. Things would get more interesting after a three-run home run that cut the PBA to just one. Matthew Faranda, pitching in a close out effort, managed to strike the final batter out to stifle the Tars comeback.

PBA will take on the Tars again in a doubleheader matchup on Apr. 22.
