Rodriguez Breaks Pair of Program Records at Spikes Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's track team traveled to Embry-Riddle for the ERAU Spikes Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Friday was highlighted by the 1500m race. PBA rewrote the program record book. Maddie Rodriguez won the race with the fastest time in school history (4:33.16). Aoife Mahony (4:37.50) placed third with the second-fastest time in school history. Dune Costes (4:39.74) earned a fourth-place finish with the third-fastest time in school history. 

Laura Georgelin finished 25th in the 1500m with a time of 4:56.62. Gwendelyn Shamel (5:01.37) and Allison Seng (5:01.79) finished 35th and 36th respectively. Ella Malone (5:04.12) placed 39th followed by Sadie Nordmeyer (5:11.08) in 43rd place, Angelina Baader (5:19.66) in 52nd place with a personal best time, and Abbie Harris (5:21. 89) in 53rd place with a personal record of her own. Chloe Smith (5:43.96) and Julia Kooyer (5:48.81) rounded out the PBA lineup, finishing 66th and 73rd respectively. 

Joni Dice represented PBA in the women's discus on Saturday. She placed 15th with a throw of 27.62m.

Rodriguez broke her second school record of the meet in 800m. She won the race with a time of 2:16.74. Mahony was right behind her with the second-fastest time in school history. She placed third, running a 2:16.82. Faith Kulis finished 46th in the race with a time of 2:54.01.

PBA competes again at the Flames Invitational hosted by Lee University on April 6-7.
