Sailfish Drop Game One Against Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team dropped a tough game against the Mocs of Florida Southern College earlier tonight. The 'Fish got off to a hot start, but struggled in the later stages, losing 16-6.

PBA took off in the first inning with three quick runs. Matty Warren reached base on a Mocs error to lead off the inning and Ben Green would earn a walk. Warren would score off of a right-center single from Pedro Figueroa. Green would also reach home after Mikey Casaleggio hustled out a bunt single. Giovany Lorenzo would single down the left field line to bring Figueroa in for the third run of the inning.

The Mocs would respond in the same inning with four runs of their own and completely took over the game from there. They followed up their big first inning with a six-run inning in the fourth. The Mocs tallied seven hits in their outburst, including a three-run home run to left field. FSC would extend their lead to 13-3 going into the eighth inning.

PBA would try to make a comeback effort in the top of the eighth by earning three more runs. However the Mocs would respond again with three insurance runs to seal the game in dominating fashion.

PBA will take on the Mocs in a doubleheader tomorrow Apr. 1.
