WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- After earning the sweep of AIC the day before, the Sailfish took on #17 ranked Molloy University earlier this morning. The Lions outhit the Sailfish, and came away with the 6-3 win.
The contest wasn't as high scoring as the last few games have been for the Sailfish, and the pace of the game seemed to be a factor. The Lions got on the board first and held the momentum throughout this game. They tallied 11 hits on the day and provided some solid defense to stifle the recently surging Sailfish offense. On the PBA side, they were able to manage seven hits, but it seemed as though the Molloy defense was everywhere. Several well-hit balls were sent out deep in the outfield by the 'Fish, only to be caught by a MU outfielder.
A bright spot for the Sailfish was the performance of
Dre Llopiz. He would go 3-4 on the day with a double. He is currently hitting .244 on the season and has moved into the top four on the team in total hits.
PBA will take on Eckerd at home to start off another SSC series on Mar. 17.
