WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Yellow Jackets of American International College gave PBA all they could handle in the final matchup between these two teams. The 'Fish got down early, but battled back in order to complete the sweep of AIC in walk-off fashion.
Much like the first three games, the Sailfish were able to strike first due to their steady offense. In the first inning,
Nate Housen would drive in a run to break things open, followed up by a three run blast by
Dre Llopiz. It looked as though the game was already in the hands of PBA from the early onset, but the Yellow Jackets had other plans. Several errors by the 'Fish allowed two runs to cross the plate and the Yellow Jackets would blast a home run of their own to tie the game up.
The momentum began to shift towards AIC, as they looked to avoid the four game sweep. They would grab two more runs in the fourth inning and tally four total runs in the sixth and seventh inning. The Yellow Jackets extended their lead to 10-6 heading into the final stretches of the game. PBA would make one final push to earn a victory.
In the bottom of the ninth,
Matthew Faranda would reach base on a fielder's choice followed up by a single by
Sean Williams.
Ben Green would load the bases with a well-placed single to right field.
Pedro Figueroa's drive up the middle would be just enough cut the deficit to just two runs.
Nate Housen, who already has been involved in walk-off situations, sent a shot out to center field that carried just enough to earn himself a walk-off home run. PBA would take the game 11-10 and complete the four-game sweep of AIC.
PBA doesn't have too much time to celebrate, however, as they take on #17 Molloy tomorrow Mar. 13 at 11am.
