WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's tennis team dropped its home opener to the No. 3 Saint Leo Lions 7-0. The Sailfish fell to 0-1 in SSC play as this marked the first nationally ranked opponent PBA faced this season. The Sailfish schedule currently features six opponents ranked in the ITA's Division II Top-25 Team Rankings.
In doubles play, PBA went 0-3. The tandem of
Blake Williams and
Marko Visontai played in the number one doubles matchup and fell 6-3. The PBA pair
Osvaldo Sergio Godoy and
Juan Fernandez lost 6-0. Additionally,
Michal Precikowski and
Kazuma Uematsu dropped their match 6-0.
Singles play featured six matches between the 'Fish and Lions. In the number one singles court
Roberto Binaghi took on SLU's Ivan Marrero. Binaghi was defeated 6-2, 6-0.
Luis Eduardo Platas dropped his match 6-1, 6-2.
Juanfer Contreras fell 6-2 in consecutive sets. Williams lost 6-3, 6-1. Williams was the lone Sailfish that competed in both singles and doubles play.
Peter Drager made his singles debut for the 'Fish but dropped his match 6-4, 6-2. PBA freshman
Axel Reich took the first set of his match 6-3 before he dropped the final two sets. Reich was defeated 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
Next, PBA men's tennis travels to Winter Park for a tilt with Rollins on Saturday, Feb. 11.
