Women's Track Sets Several Program Records at Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic women's track team traveled to Tampa for the UT Track Classic on Saturday. The meet was PBA's first of 2023.

PBA's day started with the 1500m race. The Sailfish starred in the event with the duo of Madelyn Rodriguez and Dune Costes finishing first and second, respectively. Rodriguez set a new school record in the event, running a time of 4:38.63. Costes ran the second-best time in school history, 4:45.10.

Laura Georgelin (4:55.22) finished seventh in the 1500m, running the fifth fastest time in program history. Sadie Nordmeyer (4:58.31) finished eighth with the eighth fastest time in program history, followed by Gwendelyn Shamel (5:00.22) who ran the ninth fastest time in school history, placing 10th in the event. Allison Seng (5:05.61) finished 12th, and Emma Baron (5:07.52) placed 15th.

The Sailfish fell in the 4x100m relay. The squad of Joni Dice, Abbie Harris, Aoife Mahony, and Faith Kulis ran a time of 58.96, a new school record.

Mahony finished second in the 800m race with a time of 2:18.72, another new school record. Baron finished second in the 3000m event, running a time of 10:54.05.

PBA finished the evening with the 4x400m event. The squad finished third (4:17.01) with the team of Nordmeyer, Mahony, Rodriguez, and Shamel setting a school record.

The Sailfish head back to Tampa on March 3 for the UT Distance Classic.
