WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team was ranked eighth in the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association South Region Poll released Monday.

The ranking comes after the Sailfish have put together an impressive 5-1 start to the 2023 season. The Sailfish are coming off a 2-1 weekend featuring dominant wins over Kentucky Wesleyan and Washburn.

PBA pitcher Dan Beebe was named Sunshine State Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday due to his shutdown performance against the Ichabods on Saturday. The right-hander tossed seven shutdown innings with 10 strikeouts. Matty Warren leads the Sailfish lineup with a .476 batting average with 10 hits, eight runs scored, and four doubles.

The Sailfish swept their opponents on opening weekend, picking up three wins against regional opponents. The 'Fish did it in dramatic fashion with walk-off wins against Lane and Tusculum.

PBA looks to continue its hot start today with a matchup against St. Thomas on Tuesday. The game in Miami Shores, Fla. takes place at 6:00 p.m.
