WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Mountain Lions of Young Harris College snapped the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team's five-game winning streak earlier this afternoon in a dominant fashion. They overwhelmed the Sailfish, defeating them 20-6. The game was called after seven innings.
Young Harris came into this game ranked #30 in the country according to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's 2023 Preseason Poll. It seemed like they had PBA's number in this one, earning 18 hits on the day with 19 RBIs. The Sailfish were able to get 10 hits and 6 runs of their own, but the defense of the Mountain Lions was able to stifle any comeback effort, stranding 10 PBA runners on base.
A bright spot for the Sailfish came from the top of their batting order.
Matty Warren,
Sal Grinstead, and
Matthew Faranda went 6-10 with six hits, two runs, and four RBIs collectively. Their offense is going to be important moving forward as they look to start another winning streak.
PBA hits the road to take on St. Thomas in a mid-week game on Feb. 14.
