WEST PALM BEACH, Fla -- Palm Beach Atlantic's baseball team has extended their early season winning streak to five with their win over the Washburn Ichabods earlier this afternoon. It was a complete game for the Sailfish, as they shutout the Ichabods 8-0.
Dan Beebe was the x-factor for PBA in this game. In his second start this season, he took a great performance into the eighth inning, giving up on;y five hits and one walk. Beebe was able to strike out a season high 10 batters, with two of his most important ones coming in the second inning that got him out of a bases loaded jam.
Justin Lovell picked up where Beebe left off in the eighth inning and continued to make life hard for the Ichabods. Lovell would only give up two hits and strike out five, with 18 of his 25 total pitches finding the strike zone.
It wasn't an onslaught of hits from the Sailfish like their previous outing against Kentucky Wesleyan, but the offense was still dominant in this game.
Sal Grinstead opened up the first inning with a two run home run to left field. Grinstead would lead the way offensively for PBA, going three for five on the day with four RBIs. The Sailfish would get two more runs in the second and third innings to widen their gap in this game, and score a run in the seventh and eighth innings for some extra insurance.
PBA will have their winning streak put to the test tomorrow for their final game of the weekend against the 4-1 Young Harris Mountain Lions.
