WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Earlier this evening, the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team took on the Panthers from Kentucky Wesleyan for the first of three weekend home games. The 'Fish dominated the game after being down early, winning 19-5.
The scoring between the two teams started very early on, as PBA was the first to get on the board in the bottom of the first inning. The Panthers would tie the game up in the second inning, and followed it up with four runs in the top of the third to make the score 5-1. The Sailfish would cut the lead that same inning.
Sal Grinstead was able to reach base and was able to advance to third off of a hit from
Matthew Faranda and an error by the Panthers, which allowed
Giovany Lorenzo to reach first base as well. Grinstead would later score due to a passed ball, while Faranda and Lorenzo were able to reach home off of two RBI singles from
Mikey Casaleggio and
Dre Llopiz. The 'Fish would head into the fourth inning down just one run.
Nick Adams would come in as the reliever and really left his mark on this game. He would pitch four and third innings, give up zero hits, zero runs, and strike out nine batters. His shutout effort kick started the PBA run in the fourth inning.
The Sailfish exploded with six runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Davis Blair got things started by reaching first base on an error by the Panthers.
Matty Warren doubled to left center to move Blair over to third and
Matthew Faranda added to his solid day at the plate with a two-RBI single to left.
Giovany Lorenzo followed Faranda up with an RBI double and
Mikey Casaleggio reached first base on a walk.
Dre Llopiz kept the run going with a double to right field that brought in Lorenzo and would later score off of a single to deep left field from
Pedro Figueroa.
From the fourth inning onward, the Sailfish kept pouring it on. They finished the game with 20 total hits, including five hits from
Pedro Figueroa. PBA would shut out Kentucky Wesleyan for the remainder of the game, winning 19-5.
