WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - The Palm Beach Atlantic men's basketball team announced the addition of
Ryan Montgomery to their staff as a graduate assistant. Montgomery will join head coach
Cole Rose and assistant
AJ Clark on the Sailfish staff.
"We are incredibly excited to add
Ryan Montgomery to the coaching staff here at PBA and know that he will make an immediate impact on the lives of our players," said coach Rose. "Ryan worked so hard as a player to have a tremendous career at Lee University as well as overseas and was a model of constant improvement. We're thrilled that he is going to take that same work ethic into his coaching career at Palm Beach Atlantic as he pursues his Leadership Master's Degree."
Montgomery has experience working with coach Rose, as he was a four-year player at Lee University where Rose was an assistant. Montgomery averaged double-figure points from his sophomore season on with the Flames, including being a Gulf South Conference First Team player who averaged over 18 ppg and six rebounds per game while earning his degree in Digital Media Communication. After his collegiate career, Montgomery played a year professionally in Iceland and Portugal before returning home to begin his coaching experience.
"I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to be here at Palm Beach Atlantic," said Montgomery. I am excited to get going with our team and look forward to working with Coach Rose and Coach Clark."
Montgomery coached for Pro Skill Basketball for two years before he went back to Lee in 2021 as a graduate assistant. In his role with the Flames, he coached on the floor as well as administrative duties that included booking hotels, creating scouting reports, recruiting, and ordering meals for a Flames team that went 19-9.
