WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team took on Sunshine State Conference opponent Florida Southern College in the first game of a two-day series. The game was tightly contested, but the Mocs held off the Sailfish, winning 1-0.
 
Hits and runs did not come at a premium in this game. Neither team seemed to be able to get much going, largely in part by the pitching duel between Drew Holweger for the 'Fish and Nathan Madej for the Mocs. Holweger was dealing early, going for a no-hit bid until an apparent injury sidelined him for the rest of the evening.
 
The Mocs would turn the tide in the absence of Holweger, scoring the only run of the game in the top of the fifth off of a solo home run from INF Jared DeSantolo.
 
The offense was stagnant for the 'Fish in this first game of this series. PBA notched only five hits in the game and couldn't get the runners moving when they needed to, leaving eight runners stranded on base.
 
PBA will continue the series against Florida Southern tomorrow in a doubleheader matchup. The Sailfish look to get going early and in the hopes to back on track for this back half of the season.
