Sailfish Struggle in Doubleheader Matchup vs Mocs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – It was a rough weekend for the Palm Beach Atlantic baseball team as they took on SSC opponent Florida Southern College in a doubleheader earlier this afternoon. The offensive struggles for the 'Fish was the story for the day, losing both games to the Mocs 10-2.

In the first game, the Mocs jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. The Sailfish loaded the bases and the Mocs were able to score three runs off of a sacrifice fly ball and a two-RBI double to left field. FSC was able to continue their dominance in the game, scoring runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to make the score 10-0 going into the seventh inning.

Mikey Casaleggio was the hot bat for the 'Fish in this game. He would go 4-4 on the day with two solo home runs in the seventh and the ninth inning. That was all PBA could manage however, and the first game finished with a score of 10-2.

The second game started just about the same as the first for the Mocs. They took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, smashing two home runs out towards center and right field. PBA would show a sign of life in the bottom of that inning. Davis Blair was able to reach base on a walk and came around to score after a huge home run to dead center field from Sean Houck.

Those would be the only runs that the Sailfish would get in this game. The solid pitching from the Mocs bullpen gave them problems throughout the evening. The second game would also end with a final score of 10-2.

PBA will square off against Lynn University on Apr. 12 at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
