Men's Lacrosse Earns All-SSC Honors

MELBOURNE, Fla- The Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse team had four players recieve All-Sunshine State Conference honors on Thursday afternoon. Gunner Gebelein and Henry Sloyan were named to the SSC second team. Caleb Southard and Dylan Hunt made the SSC freshman team. 

This is the fourth time in Gebelein's career he's earned All-SSC accolades. The Huntingtown Maryland native has been named twice to the All-SSC First team and was named SSC Freshman of the Year in 2019. Additionally, Gebelein has been named an All-American twice. The defensive standout led the SSC in caused turnovers with 3.07 per game. Gebelein racked up four goals, 66 ground balls and 43 caused turnovers this season. Following PBA's game against Tampa on Mar. 26, Gebelein surpassed career milestones of 200 ground balls and 100 caused turnovers. The Sailfish senior has tallied 10 goals, 117 caused turnovers, and 230 ground balls in his career. 

Henry Sloyan put up major numbers for the 'Fish offensively. The junior led the Sailfish in points with 41 and goals with 31. Following his four goal performance against Florida Southern on Apr. 23 Sloyan became the all-time leading goal scorer at PBA with 61 goals. The North Carolina native notched five hat-tricks this season which includes a four goal two assist effort in PBA's 12-11 victory over Embry-Riddle on Apr. 16. Sloyan is the first midfielder to be named to an All-SSC team in program history. 

Caleb Southard put together an impressive freshman campaign. A local from Palm Beach, Southard led PBA in assists with 12 this season. During his debut he scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in PBA's 9-8 win over Flagler in overtime. Southard scored a season high three goals in PBA's 19-7 win over Assumption on Mar. 2 and in PBA's 12-11 victory over Embry Riddle on Apr. 16. Southard started for the Sailfish in every game this season.  

Dylan Hunt saw action in every single game this season. The freshman from Marietta Georgia made an impact in PBA's defensive rotation. Hunt tallied 23 caused turnovers with 25 ground balls this season. He earned a season high three caused turnovers with four groundballs against Rollins on Feb. 19 and Florida Southern on Apr. 23.
