Early Surge From Bucs Down Sailfish

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Palm Beach Atlantic's baseball team took on Barry University for the first of a three-game SSC series earlier this evening. The Sailfish lost the game 18-8.
An early surge by Barry propelled them to an early 7-0 lead in the first inning. PBA would respond in the second and cut the lead down to four. Jeff Manto reached on a Bucs error and Nate Housen doubled to right center. Mikey Casaleggio was able to drive Manto in to score and Blake Ebo capped off the inning with a two-run home run to make the score 7-3.

Barry continued their consistent attack, scoring runs in the third and fourth. They would explode again in the fifth inning, scoring six runs off of three multiple RBI hits and a sacrifice fly ball. They would get one more run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to 18-4.

The Sailfish would attempt to make the game interesting late, scoring four runs in the top half of the seventh. Matty Warren reached base on a single and was brought around to score from a triple by Jiovel Lantigua. An error by the Bucs allowed Sean Houck to reach base and Lantigua to score. Nate Housen was able to drive Houck in and Jeff Manto was able to reach on a dropped fly ball. Manto would later score off of a double by Casaleggio.

Unfortunately, the stifling defense of Barry cut the comeback effort short, making the final score 18-8.

The 'Fish have a quick turnaround, continuing their series against Barry in an early doubleheader on Apr. 2.
